Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire, a quiet community situated in The West Island of Montreal is what you might call a "sleepy" area. Most people who do not know they mistakenly believe they are on the West Island extends westward from Montreal. In fact it is the West Island includes everything westward from the city of Lachine. The West Island is frequently referred to as the place of birth for Amanda Brugel but while that is the case, her stay there was not long. Brugel grew in Courtice located just outside of Oshawa. Early ambitions were to be performing, but she was able to outgrow her dancers. The article she wrote about her experience revealed that was published in The Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall when wearing heels. When I outgrew my male partners I stopped. The majority of dancers who have been ex-dancers now turn to acting. In Brugel's case it was the nudge of one of her drama teachers at the high school that pushed her in the right direction. It was suggested that she try out for roles in her school's production. Following a trial her options, she was eventually the leading lady in Anne of Green Gables. She was awarded an Fine Arts Talent Scholarship to study at York University's theatre Program and graduated at the age of 20 with a degree in Fine Arts. For the last two decades the career of Brugel has seen her appear in over 60 shows and films. Her most famous role was the one of Rita (shown in the video below) on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel, the only Canadian for the Season 1 actors of the series and was only seen on occasion, was the sole Canadian.
